At the Vilas Home, we pride ourselves on having a full events calendar for our residents. Planned in a way that residents can use their minds, bodies, and spirit, our activity staff will work individually or in a group to engage all interest levels in our daily events.
Over the years we have listened to our resident's feedback and have worked to create a calendar that reflects what they really enjoy doing. And we add new events all the time based on what we hear from our residents and families. Our activity staff are great motivators and make sure that everyone finds something they love doing and is included.
When you are a resident of the Vilas Home, you are family. And our family believes that birthdays are a very special occasion!
Each resident gets a day of celebration starting with a card signed by the entire staff. During mealtime, the celebrated resident will have their chair decorated by balloons and we will lead the dining room in singing Happy Birthday. The best part is the resident gets to pick their birthday meal! Birthdays are on the events calendar that is circulated every month so everyone can prepare for celebration!
Our monthly activities program includes daily opportunities for both the introverts and extroverts among us to get out and exercise the mind and body. These activities are designed to be fun, entertaining, and stimulating and may include arts & crafts, fine arts, musical events, or food-related gatherings.
If maintaining strength and mobility is important to you, our daily exercise program provides a diverse array of offerings from group walks to chair aerobics to giant bowling and mini-golf. If you are looking to stay physically active, we have a program for you!
We find that communal living tends to improve mobility and overall wellbeing as new residents have more opportunities to be up and about than when they were living at home. Daily interactions with staff and peers- from meal time to hourly safety checks - also provide stimulation and companionship especially when an individual chooses not to partake in the scheduled events.
